Modules used to Build Online Communities
Getting website visitors to visit and provide feedback on your site is only the start of how you can utilise your website in building an online community. The way that your website can communicate with your target markets, target audiences and website visitors can be divided into three main types based on how many parties are involved:

Types of Communication
One way communication
The content on your website or bulk mailers to your mailing list can be described as one way communication. You provide a message to your website visitor (or mailing list) but they cannot respond to that message on your website. WOW Interactive consider the modules that provide One Way Communication Tools as Communication Tools and not Community Building Tools.
Two Way Communication
Blogs and Feedback Modules on your website can be described as two way communication. You provide a message to your website visitor and they respond to it.
Three Way Communication
Forums and People Directory Tools (such as Facebook) can be described Three way communication Tools since these modules allows for you or website visitors to start a message that can be responded to by either yourself or any other website visitor.
